Rules and guidelines
- Please record in the highest quality possible - ideally 25fps and 1080 resolution, although we can accept other formats. You can normally check your camera's settings in the main menu, and if you are able to change them then just select the highest quality available.
- If filming on a mobile phone: please record video in landscape (hold the phone horizontally)
- Don't edit your footage - we just want the raw material, or rushes
- No music or graphics
- Please record in the English language only. We regret that we're unable to translate material shot in other languages.
- Make sure you complete both parts of the submission: via YouTube and directly to us at hackneylife@mosaicfilms.com or Mosaic Films, 4th Floor Shacklewell Studios, 28 Shacklewell Lane, London E8 2EZ
- Make sure you have permission to shoot the person or people you're filming. If your material is selected we will be asking you for proof that permission was granted. If you are openly filming in public places then as long as you're not identifying anyone in particular you don't need separate permission. For any individuals, please use our simple consent form, and for any individuals under 18, you'll need permission from a parent or guardian, so use our parental consent form.
- Stay safe - Don't put yourself or others at risk while filming. It's common sense but:
- Don't drive and film at the same time
- Don't block other people's paths while filming
- Don't trespass on other people's property - get permission where needed
- When filming openly in public places, if someone asks you not to film them please respect their request
Make sure you've read the brief, including our filmmaking tips. If you still have questions then you can contact us at hackneylife@mosaicfilms.com
And lastly: have fun! We look forward to seeing your material.
